Katy is on I-10 and Highway 90 just twenty five miles from downtown Houston. While the city itself only has a population of 14,661, the entire Katy area has a population of around 270,000 residents. Before it was known as Katy, it was known as Cane Island.

Many of the residents in this area commute daily into the Houston area for work, I-10 is probably the most traveled freeway used by the residents of Katy.
