Barrett is a small town with a population of about 3,000 people. Barrett is located in the eastern part of Harris County off of Highway 90 and Farm Roads 1942 and 2100. The community was at one time known as a "Black Community" and was named after a former slave by the name of, Harrison Barrett. Every year the town celebrates its heritage on Juneteenth.
